Council May Take Over Livesites

LIVESITES is set to continue operating despite uncertainty about the future of the body that administers the cultural events program.

Newcastle City Council is proposing to take over managing Livesites.

The Newcastle Alliance previously did this work, with $465,000 funding provided for 2007-08 by bodies including the council and Hunter Development Corporation, who each provided $150,000.

However, the future of the alliance, a council-formed, non-profit group, is yet to be determined, with councillors voting in October to put its work out to public tender.
